Random Updating

Okay, 2 craft shows down – 2 little people scarves sold.  One more show – cross your fingers for me.

In school full-time now so I do have a little time on my hands.  So I made another baby blanket for a Toys-For-Tots Benefit in my home area.  It was vert similar to Regan’s blanket however I left out the purple strip and I didn’t do the extra rows (I made Regan’s extra long so that it would cover her all the way).

Some one at the Benefit saw the blanket and wants one for themselves.  However they are an adult so they want it a little bigger and she wants to pick out her colors (which I have no problem with).  So, another project on the horizon.  I will show you all how it turns out!

It’s that time of year

I need to get ready for all the craft shows coming up.

I’m now in school.  I’m working full time.  I’m a mommy.  And I’m working on a baby blanket for a benefit at the end of this month.  I have no idea when I will get to see how many scarves I already have made up from last year, and figure out what I need to make for this year or if I need to make any at all.  Fun stuff.

Wish me luck!

Can I get a Whoot?!?!?!

So, you will never guess.  I actually finished the blanket (well ahead of Christmas, thankfully).  I just missed her birthday by a week.  Oh well, there were a couple reasons why and I will explain.  But see that beautiful new picture in the header – that is part of the blanket.

You don’t think that I would be mean enough to not show you the whole thing do you?  I’m not:

Vertigo - I think not.

Vertigo - I think not.

Anyway, the reasons:
1.) I added an extra color to the pattern. It only called for 5 pastels and I used brights and couldn’t resist not using purple.
2.) I added about another 15″ onto the pattern as well. It was supposed to go blue to green 3 times and I did it 4 so that we are CERTAIN it will cover her all the way, for a really, long, time.
3.) When I decided to add the extra 15″, I was kind of ready to be done and therefore took a week break before finishing it. Yeah, I totally could have had it done by her b-day.

4.) I’m shocked and pleased that it turned out as well as it did and that I FINISHED it! And it didn’t take me forever. I have even thought about doing another one. Anyone interested in some different colors? I was thinking different pinks or blues for baby girls and boys. Or just favorite colors. Let me know.

New Project

I’m working on a blanket for my daughter.  The reason being, you might ask….”because I need something to cover me all the way up.”  I supposed that my daughter feels that she is growing out of her “baby” blankets, she likes to be tootsie rolled in blankets (and she is WARM-BLOODED).

So I have started on her new blanket that I’m hoping to finish for a Christmas present for her.  She helped pick out the colors and I love the brightness of it.  I will post a pic at a later time.

I was going to see if I can link to something that shows the pattern, however the copied page that I have doesn’t have a name on it at all so…..bear with me and I will see what I can come up with.

Oh, and I must be out of practice on how to count because I can’t seem to get all my stitches right (I really hate that!!)

Anyway, off to work on it some more!

Lacking in the crafting dept.

Right now I just don’t have time to sit down and do a project.  I have a baby blanket that I started last year and then had issues with being able to even work on it.  I really need to get it done though.  Of course, just my luck, the baby has now been born and you start thinking….uhm, should I just keep it for the next person?  I know that sounds completely rude and harsh, but it wasn’t something that I advertised I was doing for this particular person.

I also thought about just doing the meat of the blanket and leaving off the border.  I’m just extremely scared that I won’t have the thing done by the time this little lady is 15.

Anyway, in the mean time, seriously I need to get back to it and I need to know that you all are kicking my butt to get it done.  So just nag me – I will eventually get the message.

ps: by the way, I am still thinking of how I want to set up this blog.  I have just been slammed with a lot more important things lately.  (I can hear you saying “What could be more important than blogging?”  Believe me sometimes I feel the same way.

Something for the masses (yeah, right)

Since I know that it is going to take a while for me to get this set up the way I want it, I just thought that maybe I would feed some food for thought.  This is the most recent ’special’ order scarf that I have done.  It is for a Little Man that isn’t born yet, but his mama has great taste!!  Her daughter already has 2 of my scarves. :)

Please excuse the background used here.  That isn’t a fancy backdrop for taking FANTASTIC pics, it is simply ‘The Couch’!

I’m planning a hiatus from scarves for the next couple months.  However, I already have an idea swimming around in my head for next years scarving attempts.

I want to try a new pattern that I found that is kind of a mini shaw?!  Bigger than a scarf and smaller than an actual shaw.  A lady had asked me if I did anything like that and I told her that I had seen some ideas that might work for her.  I have called her to let her know that I’m persuing this ‘idea’ however I have heard nothing back.  I’m fine with that at this point.  I may find that it takes more of my time than it seems worth or I may find that it is a great little niche!

Thoughts

I am going to change the picture under the title b/c it is a little off kilter and I couldn’t seem to get it to go where I wanted it too.  I am going to get more yarns together and take the picture.  I was very excited to be able to change my picture though!

I need to show you all the baby blanket that I started that I need to finish.  I will upload a pic of that sometime this weekend maybe.  I also want to take better pictures of the scarves that I still have left over from this year’s craft shows in the area.  But I need to categorize things so that it isn’t hard to find certain projects.

Anyway, just some ideas and thoughts that are floating through the brain right now.

Hello

I just wanted to see if I could keep up with some demand a bit better through a blog.  I can post pictures of projects that I complete – yes, there will be some major lag time for some of the projects.  At the same time maybe it will help me be more accountable for getting my projects completed.  I started a baby blanket this summer and the baby is literally due in about 3 weeks.  Due to some health issues this summer, I stopped working on it and have yet to get back to it.  Needless to say, it will not be completed in time, I do know that.

I love crocheting scarves and selling them.  Honestly I don’t know how well this will work since some of the materials I use need to be strictly touched to really appreciate them.  But I just want to try this and get my feet wet this way first and see what happens.

I love to cross stitch, crochet, stencil, paint wood items, and anything else that is relatively easy.  With a 3 year old to entertain, I have to work with easier projects right now.

Enjoy the site and please let me know if there is anything that peaks your interest.
